If you're ever in Seattle, check out Hazlewood in Ballard. They're a shining example of a bar making small drinks that are still worth the high prices. They're a fave of mine, the bar seats maybe six or seven and the entire capacity including out front is likely around 30; they've got every liquor I know to be available and a few I've never heard of, including bitters made by the owner's local friend. While I will drink bigger drinks at nightclubs, when I'm looking for real cocktails I expect less quantity for higher quality. Even Trader Vic's drinks aren't huge, but still manage to pack a wallop and big, complex flavor.

Hear, hear to this write-up, and thanks for sharing!
