Writer of Princess Ka'iulani' movie takes pop shot at Tiki Bars - Beyond Tiki

Also I think the writer was referring to the whole kitschy tourist Poly-Pop hula girl imagery of Hawaii that's been with us since the 1950's. He just used "Tiki" as a convenient (or lazy) brand name for that.
