On June 24, 1947 businessman Kenneth A. Arnold was flying his private plane near Mt Rainier when he spotted nine mysterious objects, "shaped like saucers" traveling at high speed. Though Arnold himself didn't refer to the objects as "flying saucers" the press did and the term stuck! Washington is AWESOMEton! -wfmtt-
