I agree. Why the inverse of this is more acceptable, I'll never know. Here's an example:

Cocktail waitress: "So who ordered the round of Mai Tais?"

Bar customer: "Oh that would be for my friend and I".

It sounds classy but it's grammatically incorrect. The correct response should be "Oh that would be for my friend and me."
