Les Baxter's "Space Escapades". I must say for a Baxter concept album it's not quite as "space age-y" as I would have expected. Still quite enjoyable but I think the album's reputation exceeds the reality. Before that it was the Rumblers' "Boss" which is an early 60's instrumental band that bridges the link between R&B and Surf Music. I learned about these guys on the Surf Guitar 101 website. WOW, they play some mean saxophone !! |
