I do think that the "What's Cooking" thread became the unfortunate scapegoat of a larger growing problem that a lot of old-timers here have been noticing - namely the watering-down of tiki content in the main threads, which I think is inevitable when a forum's membership grows as large as this one.

However, I think the moderators' intent was to let the thread stay where it was, in "Food & Drink", despite the valid points made by you, Sven and others - because it was one of the least-offenders and had more tiki/ohana spirit than many.

However, when the thread devolved into argument, name-calling and anger, it drew too much attention to itself from many others members who shared the opinion that it wasn't really tiki and didn't appreciate the tone, and asked that it be moved. If the arguments had remained healthy and polite, I doubt this would have happened. Which makes me sad.
