You know I'd like to salvage this thread and turn it into a discussion that's new and different.

Rather than focusing on what constitutes definitive classic Tiki-style, how about sharing what represents "THE SPIRIT OF TIKI" to you?

Here's mine:

  1. Marlene Dietrich singing "Hot Voodoo".

  1. The Mary Kaye Trio. To me they represent Tiki's Lounge roots, when people went to Tiki establishments dressed to the nines and the only people wearing Aloha-wear were your bartender and your waiter.

  1. Eartha Kitt. OK, maybe not Tiki-style but I like to think of her as Witco-style. :) "I Want to be Evil"

  1. And as noted before, the nightclub segment of "Soy Cuba".

Let's keep an open mind here and try to think "Out of the (Tiki) Box".

Otherwise how do you expect to enjoy Tiki Oasis 2011 when it goes "South of the Border" ??

Thank you John-O & Sabu for being a voice of reason.
