Stay in Downtown, it's much closer to Frankie's and the Neon Boneyard than the Strip. Also MUCH better value and gaming odds (if that's your thing)...

For best value, I'd recommend the El Cortez (or the groovy El Cabana Suites across the street).

The newly refurbished Gold Spike is also fantastic value but some of my friends are horrified by the type of people who stay there (hey, I stay there !!) Mid-week you can get some pretty "Modern" but basic rooms for $40 per night. Request rooms in the Tower there, not the adjacent Pool "wing".

Both the Gold Spike and the El Cortez are a short stroll to the world famous Fremont Street.

If you want to stay under the canopy and pay more money, the Golden Nugget (especially the new Rush Tower) provides luxury rooms on par with some of best on the Strip (but at low to mid-tier Strip prices).

If you do visit the Strip, the Cosmopolitan is a pretty impressive place. And if you MUST stay on the Strip, the historic Tropicana has been recently renovated.

I'll be in London on Aug 8-10. Where should I stay there ??? :) Any Tiki ??
