The 3 Master tapes were found in the basement of bandleader Marsh Padilla. Even he didn't know they existed until his wife Nina found them while packing things up for their big move to Boise, Idaho. They were simply marked The Kahiki Trio 1965.
I had been friends with them for a couple years and Nina gave them to me shortly before they left. To say I was ecstatic is an understatement.
They were so pleased that I wanted to do something with these tapes and I am so glad that Marsh got the opportunity to see the final product before he passed away.
The final album consisted of the best tracks from the first reel. I still got 2 more reels of unreleased Beachcomber Trio. Maybe someday I will make these available. Download?
