Though I didn't have a class, I read up on as much casting as I could find both online and in print. One website I found said they used aluminum flashing sheets to make the square shape, which actually works rather well. I just have to make sure to bend it at right angles so that it gets a flat bottom. How did you make the round bottom part with your signature? I'd like to try that myself.
