It seems that the Peninsula/Silicon Valley (the area between San Francisco and San Jose for folks who don't live in the bay area) was an amazing place to live in the 1950s and 1960s. Eichler developments, Polynesian restaurants, and googie architecture was everywhere. Almost all the googie buildings are gone (one exception is Bel-Mateo Bowl), and many of the Eichlers have been drastically remodeled (though a few remain intact especially in Palo Alto). Too bad.
