Thanks everyone. You're right about not putting 3 coats of the glaze on but that was purposeful. Online it said if you put 1 coat on you got a brown color, 2 coats greenish brown and 3 coats dark green. I wanted the turtle dark green and the rest brownish. I used an underglaze on the fish and seaweed but you really can't see it. I like the idea of adding black and wiping it off to emphasize the turtle after I recify the overall color issue. That's what I was trying to do with the turtle, having a darker green in the carving. I'm not in love with the glaze so I don't know if I'll use the same one or roll the device and go with another more "normal" green. I'm fortunate that I get to fool around with this stuff for free but I don't control the glazes available and it seems there's always something new! Hence, why we don't have many glaze tests around.
