Been getting inspired & checking out everyone's various techniques as to how to go about it - and then, couldn't resist any longer & had to jump on in. The result being, that I've actually been carving for about a year and a half now. I'll begin by posting some pics of my first tikis - until I get caught up to the present. This was my first go at tiki carving. The wood is cedar - a soft wood. Here's Tiki #2 A little stain and they really come alive. Inlaid abalone for the eyes. And here's a group shot of my first three tikis. #3 is on the far right. They're all from cedar, about 4' tall and 10" in width. #2 was real challenging - but all were fun to do.
