All hail the tiki gods!

Ok - that aside.

Aloha nui! I'm Less - born & raised on Oahu, grew up in Wahiawa (pineapple country), played on the North Shore and party in Waikiki. Spent many years on the eastern seaboard learning my trade (graphics, design, printing & publishing) - only to return to my island home for there is NO PLACE like Hawaii! Besides, that white stuff called snow is just way too much for me to deal with on a regular basis. :P

My interest in tiki's... well, I've always been a lover of wood work (my dad is a master carpenter) and I have carved my own itty-bitty-tikis, canoes, picture frames and such-what-not as projects to earn various scouting badges. Now with my Dremmel, I do some pretty good detail work for friends and family as well as myself - nothing commercial. Is a hobby I love so don't wanna ruin it with money.

I grew up eating at places like the Pearl City Tavern, Tahitian Lanai, South Seas Restaurant, Three Coins, Willows, Wysteria, Golden Dragon and more. It was the style and designs of these and other TH-era buildings that got me into graphic arts in the first place. :) It amazes me how much Oahu has changed, and continues to do so, as this island struggles with its roots while being a progressive metropolis in the middle of the Pacific ocean (subject of a series I am writing for my blog).

Doing research on a rather unique tiki piece (which I couldn't place until I fell into this forum here) owned by my employer, I stumbled across this site - and you guys are a treasure trove of information & passion for the style that gives me such warm fuzzies! I'll post about this piece in the pertinent boards. :)

Anyhoo... I'm glad to be here... and hope to expand my knowledge more with everyone's help.

A hui hou!
