Maybe it's too late for a proper intro, but here goes. I've been on TC for a month or so and I really enjoy the camaraderie. Alot of knowledgeble folks in here! I'm always amazed at the creativity of members.
I am relatively new to the Tiki scene( a couple of years). I fell in love with Hawaii as a child as a result of a contest trip. Later when I met my wife,she took me back to paradise! With our numerous adventures in the Carribbean, we married on the beach in Cozumel.
When we bought our little house, I told her I wanted to turn the backyard into our own tropical getaway. Upon my research of tropical plants and tropical gardening that would survive the Texas weather, I found TIKI. Interested about these carvings, I remembered when my family went to Walt Disney World. We stayed at the Polynesian Village Resort and I loved every minute of our stay.
Working in surgery at one of the major trauma centers in Fort Worth doesn't allow me as much time in the yard as I would like. But I am glad I found TC!
