As for the Tikis' mana not being able to prevent invasion, there are only two possible interpretations:

  1. yes, the Tikis' mana was not as strong as the mana of the white men's Lord Jehovah or whatever you wish to call Him, YHVH, etc. because they were only little local gods and YHVH is the creator of the Universe, or

  2. there are no gods at all (or if there are they didn't care), and the success of the invasion was a result of cajolery combined with big guns.
