One can listen to WFMU (East Orange NJ) on the internet as it is one of the only Free-Form (no set programing) radio stations around. In NYC, I did not listen to radio for about 10 years until I moved and found WFMU by accident.

Some of the best shows:

BILL KELLY - Teenage Wasteland (Sundays 3-5pm)

DAVE THE SPAZZ - Music To Spazz By (Thursdays 8-11pm)

IRWIN- (Wednesday Noon−3pm) Irwin Chusid is the Producer/compiler of "Songs in the Key of Z: The Curious Universe of Outsider Music" and others, Various Esquivel compilations and others.

My Fav:

Antique Phonograph Music Program alt. w/ Thomas Edison's Attic (Tuesday evening, 7pm to 8pm EST)

I highly recommend it.
