Great Idea! But I've found that dyeing some new ropes doesn't work so well. Especially with float netting I made from new basketball nets that are made of space-age polymers. So I've actually ended up spray-painting some of my glass float nets with a couple shades of brown/grey enamel paint. The trick to that is to wrap them around a cheap (beach) ball (that you can discard later) so you get the right areas coloured.
