I haven't tried it myself, but it sounds interesting. thanks to your linked article, i pulled the trigger on trying Caliche rum-- very smooth spanish style clear rum. worked very well in a Papa Doble, a Cuba Libre, and a Bajan Punch. the marketing materials overstate things a bit-- no, it wasnt like a dark rum in flavor, no it wasnt great to sip neat (altho better than cruzan or bacardi). but, it did make very smooth mixer in the cocktails i like for spanish style rum. price here pre-tax was $22.
