Mitchum invented cool long before McQueen inherited the mantle and Kirk Douglas was sharp as a tack. Jane Greer's sexy-turns-deadly narcissistic femme fatale is my all-time favorite in that role. Just my 2 cents. Also, I wonder how many bands could be described as "noir"? My #1 vote there would be the late great Mark Sandman and "Morphine".
