I passed through Las Vegas the first weekend of December '03. Ate at The Peppermill, and stopped by La Concha. LOTS of construction was going on! I went into the La Concha lobby, which, by the way, was a total mess and had lots of files and paperwork all over the place right in the entrance lobby!. I asked the young lady behind the desk about all the construction, and she said that she would be surprised if they were still there in the next 2 years. I asked about The Peppermill to see if she knew if it would be affected by any buyouts or the like. She said that she didn't know for sure, but it would most likely be taken over shortly after the final closure of La Concha.

It's truly sad to see these historic places go.

Before leaving, I told the clerk at La Concha, "will a $20 help you to recall where any memorabilia like an original ashtray, and maybe some matches and postcards might be?" (it never hurts to ask). She said that she'd love to take my $20, but everything like that has been long gone and nothing was left over in any of the old files that were laying all over the lobby.
