I have seen your version often attributed to Tepco and Trader Vic's. But it seems that the reality is that nobody really knows. I mean, I've never seen any actual proof of these mugs being either Tepco or Trader Vic's (please proof me wrong someone!!!). Nevertheless, they are amazing old mugs and undoubtedly used at some cool tropical bar. The early Trader Vic's pieces can be verified by the famous Time Life article that has pictures of the mugs and bowls.
