It was briefly mentioned way back in this thread
in the movie "The Big Heat" (Fritz Lang 1953)

In the last quarter of the movie much of the action takes place in
"Vince Stone's" (Lee Marvin) apartment and a large Moai is very prominent
in the background near his bar.

Great movie also.....
