Hello Tiki Centralites -

Allow me my two cents on this post:

The term "surfing the net" is actually an homage to one of the first pioneers of the internet. (and NO, this is not an Al Gore joke!) Dr. Vinton Cerf worked on the Department of Defense Internet project from 1976 to 1982, and is credited with being one of the true fathers of the internet. The verb "to surf" is simply a homonym of Dr. Cerf's name, and fell into popular usage during the early days of "the net".
