All kidding aside, I really don't see it used that much. In fact I don't even recall the last time I've seen it. I am sure the word (newbie) was derived from some past forum, for there are thousands and thousands of them.
Now I must admit, I will subconsciously look at a members "joining date" when I am reading their post, but I have never allowed it to effect my response to the poster member when I reply, unless they would need to be reminded about the search option.
