Tiki in Baltimore? - Tiki Travel

RyanTheTerrible- My brother lives in Baltimore and I'm sorry to say that from my experience and what he's told me, you're basically SOL for even a "tiki bar-like" spot. He recommended the places below as spots he's go for "tropical drinks", but I will preface this list by saying (1) I have never been to any of them, and (2) my brother's a beer and scotch drinker, so consider the source: Woody's Rum Bar Fairly small rum bar above a popular Irish Pub in Fells Point. Has a nice view of the Fells Point Pier and only serves drinks. http://www.woodysrumbar.com/ Their Ti Punch with Rhum J.M might be ok Talara - Latino Fusion tapas restaurant with some interesting drinks, some tropical. Sort of South Beach-ish and located in nice Harbor East neighborhood. http://talarabaltimore.com/ Little Havana - Not sure if Cuban counts as 'tropical', but a fairly themed restaurant with a great patio on the water (weather permitting). Food is decent, and they have some good cuban-esque drinks. http://littlehavanas.com/ Barcocina - Contemporary bar/restaurant focused on tequila/mezcal drinks and tacos. Great location on the water with some outdoor seating. Again, not sure if it counts as 'tropical', but could provide fun drinks near the water. http://www.barcocina.com/ Here're some Pubs he also recommended for some local color: Cross Street Market - Inside a covered market in Federal Hill; raw bar with cheap beer while sitting on stools; great for happy hour. Cat's Eye Pub - Live Music joint with piratey theme; divey long-standing bar in Fells Point that has mostly pub food. Ryleigh's Oyster - More contemporary oyster & seafood restaurant and bar in Federal Hill; lively bar scene and nicer than average tavern food; great open windows in summer Thames Street Oyster House - Contemporary oyster and raw bar specialty in Fells Point; similar to Ryleighs but smaller; I like it a little better. Boathouse - Canton bar & restaurant, formerly Bay Cafe, which was known for large (and loud) outdoor parties for young professionals. More known for bar scene than food. Large outdoor area on the water, but I haven't been there since it reopened under new management, supposedly with better food. Heavy Seas Brewery is a local brewery, obviously with a nautical theme, that does tours on weekends (located south of the city). They also have a tavern in the city (not overly themed) with their beer and raw bar as well. http://www.hsbeer.com/ Max's in Fells Point is the "Beer Nerd" bar of the city with like 100+ taps and hundreds of beers in bottles. http://www.maxs.com Tiki Barge- just be glad it's not open for the season (unless you're into the "beach bar party" style.)
