"Chris [Wood] was very kind to us, those first days [in L.A.]. He took us to all the best restaurants - Chasen's, Musso and Frank's, the Vine Street Brown Derby (where we saw Charles Boyer without his wig) and the Beachcomber where we drank Zombies and Missionary's Downfalls in semidarkness, while the artificial rain drummed on the roof and streamed down the windows.
