Agreed, anything is possible, including amaretto as you've deduced. I was only stating that I didn't think it would have been difficult for them to obtain orgeat. In addition, one of the most difficult parts of reconstructing a recipe from listed ingredients is determining what ingredients might NOT be listed, which you've done by adding simple syrup. But if your concoction tastes good, it's passed the most important test. Did you try it with amaretto to make sure it tastes OK that way?
