I know this message is long, but please take the time to read it all. :) (Thanks for permission, Hanford!) Hi Everyone - as you may or may not know, my wife, Gretchen and I are going to ride 585 miles from SF to LA in June, to raise money for the SF AIDS Foundation. "TEAM PINEAPPLE" is on the road to gathering at least $5000 for donations and we need your help. Yes, we're asking for money, yes, we'll be discussing mileage, training and road kill, but there's so much more! On Saturday, March 20th we will be hosting our FUNDRAISING / SILENT AUCTION LUAU! If you live in the Bay Area, MARK YOUR CALENDARS! If you've been to one of our parties, you know you won't want to miss this! We'll have insanely delicious tropical drinks concocted by world famous mix-maestros Martiki & Rebecca, live entertainment, amazing grinds, and MANY WONDERFUL DONATED ITEMS TO BID ON IN EXCHANGE FOR YOUR DONATION!!! We will put up a web page with the donated items and if anyone from far away sees something they MUST have, we’ll take bids via email or phone. If there is anyone on this list who would like to donate something for the auction, we’d love it! Art, crafts, baked goods, no worries! Something unique and lovely? We urge everyone to be creative and inspired! There are several ways to sponsor us: *You can go to the website below and use a credit card. *OR you can email me back, with your address and I will send you a form, and an envelope that is stamped and ready to go back to the foundation. Please let me know if you’d like me to mail you a form! If you live in the Bay Area, want to donate, and plan to attend the party on MARCH 20th, wait, and we’ll have lots of pledge forms that night. You never know what you might find to bid on. We already have some GREAT stuff! OK - back to the other stuff - we’ve been training, and are starting to do a LOT of riding! We’re meeting so many great people and everyone is really excited about the ride, it’s inspiring for both of us. We're determined to not have ANYONE on Team Pineapple enter the emergency room this year. I realize that there has been no mention of road kill in this update, this week’s ride was fairly tame, a few squirrels, a skunk (phewww!), several possums and a brown cardboard box that just couldn't make it safely across the road. That’s all for now – thanks for reading this far! “If not now, PINEAPPLES, when?” |
