If I wasn't a fan of NBC, I would have passed on this. Def. not worth the $150 for the event. The food seemed less special than last go-around. Those cones from last year were great and I filled up on them. This year those sliders were down right terrible. The meatballs just seemed so generic, like you could just get them in bulk at costco. The only thing special was the seared ahi spoons. The entertainment was cheesy and I did enjoy the fire show. But over all, it's waaaaaay too much for the price tag. The only reason why I was glad to go was for the special mug. Because man oh man, that normal orange colored one looked awful. I take back the defending I was doing earlier in the thread, having it all orange just doesn't do anything to blend with Tiki. They were also selling them there for $32. Which I'm still so confused as to why they do that. Last year they sold the general public one for a huge price. Then for the 60th diamond Terrace mug they sold the one that will be at Trader Sam's for the same high price. It confuses me why you'd want to squeeze twice the price out of the core audience for this stuff by selling those non-special mugs at such a high mark up when in only a few days it'll be for sale with a drink for half that price. That's what really pisses me off about these events. In the end if I didn't sell out the price, I would have had to spend that same amount of admission price on ebay for the mug. And I guess that because the secondary market is so hungry to recoup their loss (as the only real value is the mug from these events), that it sort of makes it a situation where you're either paying the full price for whatever enjoyment you can get out of the event, or just for the mug itself. Side note - They just changed their parking price/time frame at downtown disney. So those past three hour free policy got changed to 2 hour parking only. I ended up having to pay 6 bucks even with showing them that I was at the event with the parking ticket because I was six minutes over the two hour mark. |
