I think the Cateye Club is a cool looking space, in a tough location (Gaslamp) to make $$$ with rum drinks. I agree, John's new mugs are killer- Jason Lee is playing there soon- Friday, which is pretty cool.

Jentiki, I've read the same articles- I'm excited to drink Martin's cocktails locally rather than trekking back up to Smuggler's Cove. Since I can only imagine absurd lines to get in, I'm happy to walk a few blocks to Monello to drink their house made sweet vermouth (which is pretty damn tasty).

Just wanted to say I'm in no way anti-CH- I'm a fan of their cocktail programs in their (many) other venues- though, I wonder if False Idol will be just another feather in their cap. It will be a very well designed feather with great drinks, I'm sure...
