Royal palm frond - Fresh, trimmed (removed the leathery shaft cover), cleaned (removed the leaves), and peeled (use the angle grinder to remove the outer skin. After about a week they are fairly dry, however , you can carve on them at any point. The more fresh, the wetter and softer. As they dry they beome more wood-like.
