Good thread! Couple comments to add to what a few have already hinted at:

  1. Any drink with "more falernum than juice" is likely not a correct recipe. Falernum has a solid spice component in it, and it doesn't take much falernum in a drink to put forth an adequate amount of the desired falernum/spice flavor. The exception would be if you're using a less strong falernum, like Taylor's Velvet for example.

  2. Any drink which is described as being "thicker due to the falernum" is likely also not a correct recipe. Any quantity of falernum which would actually make a drink "thicker" or "more syrupy" would be too falernum-forward.

I'll be at Sam's East in early May, at least one evening on the 4th/5th/6th and I'm looking forward to having this drink again. So glad Disney is using good ingredients and serving people some good cocktails instead of the typical theme park and restaurant concoctions we run into so often. Their offerings at Sam's will have people doing research at home for many years into the future, and who knows how many will discover the fun of making good cocktails at home thanks to Sam's.
