In doing a bit of research on the Charlie Chan movie series, I discovered that Don the Beachcomber (Donn Beach) was hired as a set design consultant for the Charlie Chan film Dangerous Money. (Hollywood notes: Restaurateur "Don the Beachcomber" gave technical advice on the South Sea Islands.) That explains the look of the Mango Inn Polynesian bar from the movie! Looks a lot like Don's early Waikiki restaurant. DC
