The problem isn't that Tiki has gone mainstream; the people attending Oasis now aren't really into Tiki, they just heard this is a fun event and want to come. Most of the newcomers barely dress up.

The Paradise Point property is WAY too expensive for something like this. They wouldn't put up with the shenanigans either.

Other hotels don't need a festival, they're already booked solid for the summer. I believe Otto was turned down a few times before selecting the Hanalei. I go to there a few days before Oasis starts and it's barely booked; it's empty. They need Oasis.

Going to Las Vegas might be the only alternative, but there just aren't any Tiki-specific hotels there anymore. And again, they don't really need the bookings these days, Vegas is a giant wild party on most summer weekends.

So I sure don't have an answer and don't know WHAT I'd do if I was Otto! He needs to make this bigger but there aren't really any alternatives!
