Devices to measure amps are easy to come by. Many common multimeters have that option. A multimeter is a hand held tool that is most commonly used to measure volts. Actually, they are most commonly found on car dashboards. They are the meter that tells you how well your alternator is working. I don't actually use one, though. My multimeter does not have that option. But the formula for figuring out amps is pretty simple.
