We were only in Mexico City a couple of days, long enough for us to see the pyramids, score the LPs (also including "Hawaii" by Santo y Johnny, and an original 50s rock n roll album by some coo coo Mexican band doing precise (but with Spanish lyrics) covers of stuff like Elvis's "Baby, I Don't Care" - unauthorized, I'm sure, just like the many steet tables stacked with bootleg DVDs of "The Passion of the Christ" all over the damn place, in full view of Mel Gibson and whoever else happened to be passing by. Gotta love it). We did see the famous Diega Rivera giant mural, though. Mexico City is massive, a lot like New York but crunched down then spread out like LA, but with a cosmopolitan third world frenzied vibe. I dug the laid back atmosphere of Guadalajara much more. I miss it already.

Some photos of our trip are now posted here:

Though not the Bali Ha'i one, that will be in the body of my next online column, which will be posted by the end of next week.

And no, I will NEVER get over Robert Conrad and his tight pants. Of course, he's no Tom Jones....
