Hey Sweetpea - sorry I missed you at the crawl, I was getting in on some extreme disco skating booty action, with a very interesting special someone...

Anyway - the googie motels in Portland are for the most part pretty ghetto. But, I'd have to say, if you're not afraid of NE Portland, go ahead and try the Palms. They do a good job of keeping up the sign, so I have reason to believe it's family owned and fairly clean and well-cared for.

If you're looking for a NICE and reasonable place to stay, I'd recommend the Mallory. It's right downtown by Powells, and it supposedly has an old-school swanky ballroom/dining room. Reasonable rates, too.

There's also a cheap motel next to the Jasmine Tree, but I don't recall what it's called. Looks scary, but hey - probably really cheap. :wink:
