Bamboo question for a bar - Tiki Carving

What I have is a 3/4 inch plywood top with 3/16 plexiglass covering. I picked up some 2" bamboo and was thinking about cutting a 1" groove making it U shaped to fit around the edge. Sounds great but I'm not sure if it's doable. Is there a better method or an easy way to do it this way? Also what is the best way to go about cutting it? Jigsaw? Skillsaw? Tablesaw? or hacksaw blade by hand? Thanks in advance for helping a newbie out.
