What Did You Florida People Do This Year To Piss Off The Gods?

Pages: 1 16 replies

Everyone in Florida please stand and face south. Take a deep breath... hold it... hold it... NOW BLOW! As hard as you can! Blow again!

Keep Ivan away from Florida! He's getting too close! I'll be sweating with you for the rest of the week until this one passes by!

Someone make a sacrifice... break a tiki mug or something... Poly Pop?

There's a secret that's going to be revealed at Hukilau.

It will astonish all and cause great waves in this ocean of Tiki.

Pele sends what she can here - not earthquakes - not fire - but wind and rains.

She knows that once this secret is out, there will be a great diminishing of her often ill-used power.

But first we have to sacrifice someone and I choose Flounder.

Or at least his mug. I'll break mine when I get home from work today....

Whooo whoo whoo slow down there kids!

I heard through the grape vine that these hurricanes are geared at Pablus for he has drank the nector of the Gods. Not of the nector of the Gods but all of the Gods nector!

Who here can dispute that Pablus couldn't drink the Gods entire stock? There are many witnesses. Hell the guy almost put Hale Tiki out of biz with his 20 drinks in one night.

I say we sacrifice his Uke...

Ivan will go south and mean little to Fort Lauderdale. As long as nothing else comes along, we'll be great.

Naaaaah. A uke makes a lousy sacrifice. Anyone out there have a cello?

Cheers!

Who can fathom the will of the gods? You would think they would be pleased that a new tiki bar opened in Orlando and the Hukilau is just around the corner.
Perhaps the gods would satiated if even more TCers suddenly decided to join us in Ft. Lauderdale. On the other hand, that might just inflate the body count.

I DIDN'T Do IT!!!!!!

Prayed for waves.......

you know ... there's a LOT of those kinda tiki-wannabe sort of "tiki bars" down this way, and maybe the bad karma is catching up to them. you know the sort i mean - jimmy buffett music and all ...

[cybertiki demonstrating how to start a TC riot]

don't blame me - my company pissed me off again today, so I started drinking mai-tai's at noon so this one makes about eleven so far. irish blood, you know.

Cheers!

Keep all fingers and toes crossed...
As of the last NHC update it has Ivan steering a little more west again... may skirt a bit off the west coast of FLA...

IVAN CONTINUES TO MOVE TOWARD THE WEST-NORTHWEST OR 300 DEGREES AT
13 KNOTS. THIS GENERAL MOTION WITH A GRADUAL DECREASE IN FORWARD
SPEED IS EXPECTED DURING THE NEXT 2 TO 3 DAYS. AS MENTIONED IN THE
PREVIOUS DISCUSSION...THERE IS HIGH CONFIDENCE IN THIS PORTION OF
THE FORECAST BECAUSE THE HURRICANE WILL BE STEERED BY THE FLOW
SURROUNDING A WELL-ESTABLISHED SUBTROPICAL RIDGE. ALL MODELS ARE
HIGHLY CLUSTERED DURING THIS PERIOD...BRINGING THE HURRICANE
NEAR OR OVER JAMAICA...THE CAYMAN ISLANDS AND WESTERN CUBA WITH A
DECREASE IN FORWARD SPEED. THEREAFTER...THE TRACK CONTINUES TO BE
UNCERTAIN SINCE STEERING CURRENTS ARE FORECAST TO WEAKEN AND MODELS
DIVERGE. HOWEVER...MODELS FROM 12Z ARE IN SLIGHTLY BETTER AGREEMENT
THAN IN EARLIER RUNS...AND IN GENERAL HAVE SHIFTED A LITTLE BIT
WESTWARD. THE OFFICIAL FORECAST ALSO SHOWS A SLIGHT WESTWARD SHIFT.

Stay the hell away from Florida this time... give the residents and TC Ohana excited for Hukilau an F'ing break! Everytime I hear I a new report I get sick to my stomach... I can't wait until this one goes away...

You guys have it all wrong. This is just a way the state of Florida purges itself of the weak. It calls upon the storm gods to test the willpower of those that decided to relocate here after their sunny family trip to Wally World.
After a series of hurricanes, the weak go back from where they came, vowing to never return. This inturn thins the traffic problems of overcrowding for the strong. Or something....

hmmmm ... I graduated from high school here in the "Sunshine State", left, came back, lost my home to Hurricane Andrew, and I'm still here.

I guess that makes me ... a masochist.

geez.

I hate to admit it (and I do feel very sorry for all of the FL folks who are being affected by these storms) but every time I see the tv footage of the damages, I just keep thinking " Look at all of those palm logs just laying around waiting for a carver to harvest them!"
