POM Wonderful

Hey! Has anyone attempted to create a tiki drink yet with POM Wonderful, the bottled 100% pomegranate juice? I tried it for the first time yesterday. Yum! Not too tart and not too sweet.

When I worked at a fancy fru-fru restraunt bar, we made a blended maritini using the POM and Absloute Kurrant (and some other stuff I don't remember). I love the POM, but that drink sucked.

At home I like to make a Gin and Tonic and add a splach of POM, or if I have it Cherry juice tastes yummy (I use Juicy Juice brand).

its kinda pricy, but i drink pom all the time, never in a drink though, any suggesrtions????....i love the pom/blueberry.....

Yeah, it's a bit expensive, but one small bottle ($3.99 at Whole Foods here, in Baltimore) goes a long way if you mix it with seltzer water or whathaveyou.

POM supposedly contains all of these antioxidents, so if we were to make tiki drinks with it they'd be GOOD FOR US!

I made up a drink a while back that used POM. I make up lot's of drinks and give them weird names. My tastes change over time and sometimes I'll go back try an earlier drink and it doesn't taste as great as I remembered it. I haven't had this drink in months so...caveat emptor. I remember it as being a dry/tart drink.

.5oz vodka
1 oz Brazilian cachaca
.75 oz POM
.25 oz Rock Candy Syrup
.5 oz lemon juice

You might try substituting POM for grenadine in some classic drink recipes. I've taken to using Fees Bros American Beauty grenadine which has a nice strong pomegranate taste. But if Rose's is all you have or if you think grenadine is too sweet then maybe try subbing some POM.

Webtender.com has a grenadine recipe of 2 cups pomegranate pulp/juice simmered with .25 cup of honey for three minutes. I may try that using two cups of POM.

I've been messing with it quite a bit recently at the home bar. So far the best was a paring with some orgeat and guava juice (And rum, of course!), but the recipe still needs some tuning before it's ready for public consumption.

But it's great to know that I'm not the only one that thought it'd be great for a Tiki drink!

Improvised this at a complete stanger's Halloween party this year.

You'll have to experiment with the ratios if you want to recreate it... I was barely able to write down the ingrdients.

It was pretty good!
