Hey everyone,
I picked up an ashtray a little while back labled "The Trader" with the usual Trader Vic's mask and spear logo on it.

I was wondering if this was a mistake or some former copycat tiki establishment.
I just came across an auction on eBay that states that Trader Vic opened "The Trader" in Havana in 1958.
Does anyone have any more information on this one?
Aloha,
:tiki:

Supposedly the Trader still exists in Cuba (doesn't it say that in BOT?) I know it was Trader Vic's originally, but maybe they changed the name to The Trader at some point...?

From what I've been able to tell, the restaurant is now called El Polinesio.

A couple of early Trader Vic's locations were called The Traders (other early ones were also called The Outrigger), but that was with an "s". I wouldn't be surprised to learn that the Havana Trader Vic's was initially called The Trader.

I thought the mask and spears was a logo that was adopted in the 70's.... which would sort of rule out Cuba.
