There's definitely a lot of Bosko in your style. Are those white pine?

thank you, but i dont know who bosco is ...the wood is california/king/queen palms. they do not have the water sealer on them yet.

Bosko is an old hand and one of the fews of us making a living at this..here's his site: http://www.tikibosko.com/tikipole.htm He claims a lot of influence from Witco and William Westenhaver, one of the trailblazing pioneers of the style (visible on page 252 and 253 of the Book Of Tiki by Sven Kirsten). Is that a torch burn or a paint highlight?

hmmm..deeper cuts you mean?...thanx forward..

Paint, especially on a badly uneven piece of wood, is a true friend. It can hide knots and make cracks look 50 years old....A little black or Java brown can even out a splotchy finish if applied lightly. And it can change the character of a piece from okay to near perfect finishwise with the wave of a hand.
