What have you all found to be the best way to 'skin' a Sabal Palm to remove the outter inch or so of fibers? I just spent about two hours with a chisle and only got about a foot of my log done.

I tried looking for any posts that might be the same topic but couldn't see anything in search. Sorry if this is a repeat.

Thanks,
TampaTiki

Use your chainsaw. Quickest, way bar none.

Awesome...I'll pick up a draw knife since I'll be doing these without power tools. For the ones I use powertools on I'll break out the chain saw.

Thanks for the info! I'll get some pics posted when I get some of these done. I just picked up a dozen 5 foot sections of palm today.

Thanks again!

Have fun with that draw knife.....the saw is the way to go. Benz speakum truth! If you wanna go trad, get some green stone :) Outside of that, nearly everyone uses the saw for at least some prep.
