Here's a good article from the involved parties' hometown, sheding some light on the real estate tycoon Rotenberg who commited this act:

Ugh. Just like a Minnesotan--so many of the great, historic buildings in downtown Minneapolis have been razed to build parking lots. For shame. |

I'm sure he will built a "really nice" 'McMansion' with a 3 story foyer and 27 bedrooms (26 of which he will never occupy-or furnish). Welcome to the 'modern' world. May the Gods deal him JUSTICE! :tiki: :x [ Edited by: Atomic Cocktail on 2002-06-28 09:23 ] [ Edited by: Atomic Cocktail on 2002-06-28 09:24 ] |

That sucks I am a big fan of Architecture and there is nothing that ticks me of like when some moron tears down a beautiful deco building or modernizes a Victorian house by putting up vinyl siding and shit like that |

I read about this in Dwell magazine, and if I'm not imagining things, it was also mentioned in this month's Metropolis. I guess I can't say anything that hasn't been said already, except that if I was Maslon, I'd be a comin-outta-the-grave-brain-eatin-vengeance-gettin-muthaf... |

In the Philadelphia area the trend is to buy a cute arts & crafts bungalow and tear it down and erect an ugly stucco McMansion on the lot, sandwiching it in,leaving no room for any yard, and then if there is actually grass left, to pave over it and make the yard into a huge driveway.Grass is undesireable here. Plus there will be the inevitable 3 car garage. My husband and I had to search for ages to find a bungalow to buy and restore, so this makes us insane! |
