I too would like to get a couple plastic Shag cup from Target. Is this a bad thing. It may turn the world upside down but it would be cool. Most people don't sell out until they are on their last leg. Martha Stewart at K-mart does this pairing make sense. But at least K-mart shoppers will have better looking homes. |

Shag, Peter Max, Warhol... Popularity doesn't make you a sell-out. Just take your time-wave comes. Let the other guys go, catch another one. [ Edited by: MTKahuna 2006-07-18 19:44 ] |

Sell out? No - sorta' - maybe - who knows- even possible? Verging on over saturation of the marketplace? Possibly-Probably. I have only seen the trailer for the film, but Patton Oswald When I look at Shag's work, it makes me laugh and smile. Will Shag's work be as "dated looking" and be reviled as the last Maybe, but somehow I doubt it. (Even with his sucess, Shag is still not "on the radar" of the Either way, his work will still make me smile. And really, that is all I care about. :) [ Edited by: Gromit_Fan 2007-04-27 20:59 ] |

You gotta watch the whole flick. Not just the trailer. It's classic! When it comes out, you will be stoked! ( if not, this is the place to bitch and moan! :) |

Shag doing an album cover for Christina Aguilera or 50 cent ? THAT would be selling out. That's a culture that has little to do with SHAG world. Making his OWN product with his artwork on it, is just selling. He is approaching the saturation point tho', where people will start to grow tired of his trademark SHAG look. I still smile when I see a SHAG image. That's what counts for me. Funny, but you mention SHAG to many people, and they have no idea what you're talking about. I'm sure they'd recognize the artwork tho'. |

I have yet to add any of his work to the "stockpile" but enjoy what he has done. I believe that his topics have been broad yet focal, tasteful, and neat. I look forward to see how he adapts to evolving tastes and changing times. Swamp |

Where is it written that an artist must conform to limits or that making a lot of money as an artist diminishes the art? I say full steam ahead. More Shag is much better than less. |

I congratulate any artist that can find their market and make a living from their products, be it a simple or extravagant lifestyle based on their cashflow. There are many artworks out of my range, but I buy what I like and can afford and hope it helps the artist continue to hone their skills. I love Shag and have the Shag cocktail candy tins....that is all I can afford. :D FATIMA BLUSH: Oh, how reckless of me. I made you all wet. [ Edited by: VampiressRN 2007-04-28 15:59 ] |
