Oh man. It's really been a while. And unfortunately I'm here to tell of an upcoming hiatus. Work has been crazy and is only getting more so. We're going to Hawaii at the end of the month. I'll be out of town working for a couple of weeks after that, soooo I have to tell you.... But there's a surprise at the bottom of the page to help ease the pain of separation. All right! For those who watch, we're back. We're ramping back up. The mug o lanterns delivered their flickering light to a few lucky households on halloween, which warms my heart, now these four real mugs are almost ready to hold your icy spirits... Edgar #22 is the blackest black of blackness. Speckled inside. Unwanted last time around, this here is his and your 2nd chance.... UNWANTED!? Lem and Lime #'s 23 are wondering when their inevitable salt shaker incarnations will materialize. Xeno #42 was also unwanted before. Only four more Xenos on our shelves... so if there was ever an inkling in your brain to grab one.... Cannibal Pot #8 is our new favorite instant classic. So much potential for what to drop into the bottom of these babies. Hmmm... babies, perhaps...? GROSS! Ok. Four more after this. We're working frantically to get the puffer fish ready for premiere. Happy Turducken day America! And a lovely 2nd half of november to the rest of the world. The holidays are for family and togetherness and at the demon house that holds especially true this week. Your black friday selections include one of every mug we have in stock (minus Xeno), including a brand new offering.... Edgar #26 is another one of Katie's Star Trek glazerings... Lem and Lime are also on #26. Zest! Cannibal Pot #11. Whoa! Check out that holiday feast -oh, you've eaten it all... dang. Glass float #14. It's green. See. Hey everybody! Hope your holidays find you safe and dry amidst your loved ones. Portland survived the "perfect storm" much better than some of the outlying areas, and life is fine so long as you don't need to go to Seattle. I just wanted to jump in here on this thread to show you our last mugs for 2007. Probably our last "big lot" offering for a while. We're running out of inventory due to our hectic work schedules and other lame excuses, but I'll try and have at least one mug up at any given time in 2008. Thanks for your understanding. Edgar #28 is about as traditional a glaze as he'll ever get. Kind of camouflaged into the background here.. Poof #2 wants to poison you! Cannibal Pot #13 leaves me to wonder what the natives do with the ribs and other assorted bones NOT found at the bottom... Glass Float #16 will not actually float, so don't go dropping it off the side of your trawler. Ollie the Octopus #19 just got back from a particularly brutal paintball game. That's it for now. Hey gang! How's it goin'!? Remember how I said "at least one mug up at any given time in 2008"? Well, I meant it. Starting now at least. So. It's petty, but we only have ONE mug to offer right this second. But in 2008 we promise to have at least one up on th' bay at all times. From this point on. Serious. No more hiatuses this year, dammit. Exciting stuff to come for the lucky collectors. Keep your eyes on the creating tiki thread. Diggit. This week's mug for your collecting pleasure is glass float #17.
So I tried something completely different in the glazing of this one. Kind of a cross between making the mug look antique and totally weathered. I had three to glaze and Katie only let me try my new method on one of them. So here is the result. It looks all old and dirty with bits of green goo which the ocean has to offer stuck in the ropes and MAN was I happy to see this guy when he came out of the kiln. So if you like it, grab it. The next two are done up like their predecessors, cleaner ropes, etc, so if you liked them the way they were, don't fret. We'll probably mix it up for the rest of the run, but personally I much prefer the weathered fellows like this one. Good luck, thanks for looking, and happy bidding! -Joe |

So we got a Lem and Lime up there now. So dig em.
Meanwhiles as many of you might be aware, evilBay has made some "exciting changes" to their pricing structure! Namely, listing prices have dropped a nickel or two while final value fees are being raised several percentage points. It's bad enough that they ebay is one in the same with paypal, who also takes a cut of each transaction, but they feel the need to gouge us even further. So Rum Demon is going to join the boycott of 2/18 - 2/25. Not sure what it will all amount to, but I'm really hoping they get at least a little burned. spitefully, PS Of course we'll be back right after that with SKULL #1!!!! |

Yeah, we showed them. With that huge boycott. Take THAT eBay!! Anyway, Katie has softened somewhat. The new deal is THREE mugs a week. Can we manage to keep up? I hope so. So here's a fun sneak peek of our newest creation. Pretty straight forward, really. It's a human skull. A mean human skull, so you don't feel so bad about drinking out of his noggin. Or... eating...
Nice. We're constantly finding new uses for these skulls. And with a run of 100, I'm sure the public at large will explore every one of them and more. #1 will be up on evilBay tomorrow night, along with a puffer and a very pretty Edgar. I just stumbled two really sweet mugs on evil bay...you're treasure map mug and brown float mug...damn, they area REALLYYY nice! Too bad I can't afford them :( Bidding is already pretty high with 6 days still left...arghhh! It's really nice to see that your mugs have been going up in demand :) |

Hey Mo, As far as Rum Demon is concerned, Katie and I are still making mugs in our spare time and have even started down some other tiki ceramic paths. We slowed then stopped our eBay sales around the holiday for a number of reasons. We'll probably throw a few last things up there in April. Our long term plan is to finally build an online store. We're not sure exactly how we're going to go about this, but have some good leads. We'll most likely make a space on etsy.com. Look for our announcement in the late spring. I hope you and all the other tikiphiles are doing well and finding happiness despite any hardships. I'll try and keep in touch. mahalo, |
