ebay: Rum Demon is back for realz. SKULL!!

Pages: 1 2 3 113 replies

Greetings Tiki Central. I have three mugs available right now. And hopefully three every week for a long long time (yes, Katie gave in).

Taking a turn further towards the macabre we officially introduce.... Skully (I guess) the Human Skull bowl.

Fairly straightforward, really. You drink your booze outta this here skull.

Or you use it fer soup.

Or to ash our cigarettes.

Or feed your pets!

I can has braaaaainz??!?

So you can find skull #1 (of 100) Here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=190202673128&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT&ih=009
and NO, it's not the one we put the Trix and Fancy Feast in for the pictures.

Also for this week is Edgar #29 (of 50) http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=190202676628&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT&ih=009

The orange in the picture doesn't do justice to the real deal. Works nicely against the white. He still licks your table, though. Filthy bugger.

Oh, and Poof the Puffer Fish #3 (of 100) http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=190202678937&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT&ih=009

Only #3?!! I could have sworn we let more of these out! I'm so very sorry about that. Please accept this ceramic fish as a peace offering.

HEY! Thanks for looking.

-Joe

Joe, those are really, really nice! Wish you'd brought some in with you when you came by the other day! If there are any when I get back from Mexico I might just have to get one! If you want help with your web presence, nwtiki.com is set up to help you out. We're working with a select group of tiki artisans and enthusiasts to help with domain name, hosting and design services at great prices. If you're interested, email me or Craig and we'll talk more. In any event, keep up the good work!

Mark

M

Hey Joe,
Bet ya neve get that, I'm such a card.

This is the first I've seen of your work. I have to comment on the Pino Diablo. Superb, really a well-done interpretation. Unusual for sure, but I like seeing a person go out and do something a bit different. I cannot recall anyone doing something new with the ole pineapple form.

Kudos to you.

midnite

Great work, can't wait to get some of those babies!

Augh! The price on the Piña Diablo is too rich for my blood, I'll have to stick with bidding on Fred.

RD

Thanks to everyone who bid on the first batch of Demons. For those of you that didn't win, there's a new batch up on the block this morning.

Primo #15 is here:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4438218765&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1

#15 is white with red details. I skipped the all-red #14 for the moment so he can undergo some last minute improvements. He will be made available hopefully in the next round.

Fred #2 is here:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4438220429&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1

This Fred is a nice dark green. Once upon a time I was going to decide on a color and make #11-50 all the same. I've since changed my mind, but Fred #2 would have probably been the winner for the batch.

Pina Diablo #3:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4438222166&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1

Katie tells me that this Pina is special because it is only one of two which she gave a light-yellow interior (#8 is the other). Also it is only one of two with a lighter glaze on the eyes (#7 is the other).

These auctions all end around 10am PST, Saturday Feb 11th.

The website is up and running at http://www.rumdemon.com and over the next few days I'll start posting big detailed pictures of each and every mug, even those which are unavailable.

I'm a new seller on eBay, so go easy on me. As the weeks and months pass I'll iron out any kinks you all find and start listing with a bit more zazz. Your patience is appreciated, just know that I'm not here to rip anyone off, I just want y'all to get your Demons. Feel free to reply here or PM me with any questions or concerns.

happy bidding,
-Joe

L

Lovin the mugs, expecially the rum demon!!!! keep up the great work.

i won the first 3 auctions and can't wait to get these cool mugs.

aloha! i got the 3 mugs today and i love them. the pina diablo is my favorite, but they're all very cool. mahalo and keep up the great work! bullet

Good day all! It's that time of the week again. Another batch of Demons hot off the kiln submitted for your bidding pleasure.

I'm going out of town again so this will be the last auction until early march. But the good news is, we have a Coco-Nut all fired and ready to go!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4439936120&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1

and there it is. The first 10 or so of these will be slightly different from the last 40 because Katie is trying to hone in on a method she really likes. I'll try and get some picccs up in Creating Tiki of the other ones as they are fired.

Our oldest friend Primo is up again, this time it's #16 in a devilish black and red configuration.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4439930453&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1

Blushing Fred #3 is white with black highlights and a bit of oops on the cheeks thanks to a poorly cleaned brush (live and learn). Luckily the pinkness falls only in the cheek area, is rather light, and comes of as a bit blushy, so I'm cool with it.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4439932673&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1

And who can ever get enough of Pina Diablo. Here's #5, back in full form with bright yellow meat inside and that pained expression that seems to say "DAMN crushed ice is cooooold!"

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4439934044&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1

Good luck and happy bidding!

i hope you make a few more 2 or 3 tone primos like #"s 2, 3 and 4. i dig your website, but i wish you wouldn't put the big red x on the ones that are sold! :) i like seeing all your mugs in all their glory. anyways, i'm looking forward to getting the new batch i just bought. keep up the great work! bullet p.s. pina diablo is one of my favorite mugs in my collection! outstanding!

[ Edited by: kingstiedye 2006-02-19 14:51 ]

RD

Thanks Brook,
There's quite a few two-tone Primos actually. I just got a big batch fired this week. Pictures to website in march. I'm not gonna be able to update before I leave. I agree with you on the red x. Gotta find a better way to say they're gone without blocking them out. Will fix, will do. Thanks for the interest. Hope us custom mugmakers aren't putting you into the poor house! Take care.

-Joe

aloha joe! i got the mugs today. great work! the coco-nut is a great addition. pina diablo is outstanding again. i really like the 2 tone fred and primo too. i urge all modern mug collectors to bid on your mugs. everyone who digs modern mugs should try to score pina diablo especially.

Augh! Sniped again! Oh well, gimme a couple weeks before posting any more and I'll try to bid higher...

RD

Happy St Guinness's Day to everyone at Tiki Central!!! I hope everyone is safe and happy and a little tipsy on da green beers this fine holiday. I know us Rum Demons have our bellies full of corned beef and cabbage right now and are accumulating a number of small plastic balls formerly filled with nitrogen (can we recycle these cans safely??). Anyway.... there's some new Demons on the 'bay!!!

First is one of the prettiest Primo's ever (sorry Primo, but you're so pretty...). #24 is a rich green with orange highlights. Katie proclaimed that she wanted to keep him for herself, but it was too late, I'd already made the listing so there.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4448849507&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1

Next up as always is "lucky" Fred #13. Here's one of our newer creations, like Primo #13 he's jet black on the outside, fiery red on the inside. The pics don't do the color justice. It's much redder inside than the orangy orange you see on the 'bay, trust me.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4448852446&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1

Ahhhhh Pina. America still loves it some Pina Diablo. #11 looks as though someone has passed over it with a blowtorch. But Pina, he's a Rum Demon! He just laughed off the attack and thanked his assailant for the kindly warm-up!
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4448856437&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1

Coco the NUT! Look! It's #6! Katie really likes the orangy brown. She thinks it's kinda retro. I hate that word. But it does look as though it's come from a different era. Ultimately no, we're not sure we like the color, but as I've stated here before #1-10 of Coco were experimental sooooooooo there you go.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4448858882&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1

Ooh! Check it out! It's Xeno (formerly Alien Tiki, but we have one of those on TC, don't we?) #2. #2!? Indeed! Creamy blue, tattooed, and ready for you. This is his coming out party. Please give him a warm warm welcome to this planet earth. Treat him well and he may very well show you the path to intergalactic enlightenment.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4448863886&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1

Ok, that's it for now. I'm off again next week to Lorsangeleezville for work, but the auctions shall continue, always to start and end between 6:30 and 7:30pm PST. Good bidding, and good luck!

-Joe

T

That black Fred looks great. Most of the black mugs are matte balck. This one seems to even reflect silver.?

You should keep tract of where all these ship out to. I just bought that brown spotted Fred. Looked to one of the best. I don't know, I just see him as a brown mug. Hopefully I can make a mug this summer. Who knows, mabye we will end up owning each other's mug.

Oh yeah, keep all of your mugs on your website and then I can print it off so I will know what other ones exist. Maybe a print friend page?

RD

Hoboy. The Demon is in LA again. I'm writing this on the common computer at work so it's gonna be brief...

I might be absent, but the mugs persevere. Another offering to the Ohana is up and running on the 'bay.

Primo #26 (green):
http://cgi.ebay.com/Rum-Demon-Homemade-Tiki-Mug-Primo-26-of-50_W0QQitemZ4448849883QQcategoryZ35713QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Pina Diablo #12 (with BLACK EYES! The only one!):

Coco Nut #7 (another in the test-glaze series):

Whew. Ok. Should be more descriptive again next week, but work and life in LA has been battering me in the best of ways. Stay tuned to the Ohana chapters to see pictures of yours truly at Hef's house (no foolin'). Also I'll be in Seattle soon and need a chaperone to the new Vic's, maybe in exchange for some of my deadly freak mutant mugs, er vases.

until next time,
Joe

Aloha J&K,

Tip O'me hat to you both, the mugs are super and really stand out against others! Details and glazes are top shelf!! Keep up the great works and the website really kicks!!! Are you going to post more Xeno pic's and/or a 'mutant mugs in memoriam' on your website? Mahalo nui loa, RD!

Shaka Y'all...flip-flop-flip-flop-flippp...--TravelingJones

RD

Yaaaay!! We're back! It's been a heck of a couple of months, with my working in LA, then Seattle, then LA again. Katie nearly forgot my name, and my computer quit entirely. Things are slowly stabilizing, starting with our return to the auction block...

There they are... and here they are:

Primo #18 is an oldie. Low fire, should have been white, but I dunno. He came out of the kiln with all sorts of swishy color happening. Groovy.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4464266130&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1

Fred #6 is one of the few high fire mugs I've had emerge from the kiln NOT looking like a horrible monster. He's a mixture of blues that remind me of those old school psychedelic video effects.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4464267139&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1

Pina #16 is a classic model. White teeth, rich yellow meat... mmmmm.... pineapple....
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4464267590&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1

Coco the Nut #10. This is the last Coco we have that's been fired. We're working on it, but probably won't have any more for a couple weeks yet. With the exception of eye, teeth, and mouth variations, this is pretty much the face of Coco from here on out. I think...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4464268108&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1

Xeno #6 is white with rusty red tattooing. My favorite design thus far, he's labor intensive and unorthodox, but feels real good in your hand. Get yours while they're cheap!
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4464268764&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1

Happy bidding!
-Joe

Holy Crap! I won one! :D

Rum Demon, I think HotMail's down, or at least I can't access it today. I'll contact you tonight.

RD

Ooops. Neglected to post this last week when I listed the auctions....

ENDING TOMORROW, friday the 2nd....

FOUR mugs on the block this week, since there aren't any cocos ready to sell. Running low on Xenos, too.

Primo #32, white with red details.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4465856481&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1

Fred #7. An old old oldie. Another rare survivor of the high fire kiln debacle. I really like this one, he's a chocolaty reddish brown. Real thick glaze, but no bubble trouble. Nice.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4465857236&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1

Pina Diablo #17. We're just chugging through these at a regular clip. Steady as she goes, #17 is another mug with that smokey "torched" look.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4465862669&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1

And last but not least, dangit, is Xeno #8. White with blue tattooing. This will be the last Xeno for a while. The only other one that is fired is going to be a raffle prize at the NW Tiki Crawl later this month.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4465863581&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1

That's all for now. I'll probably update again tomorrow when we put up another 3 mugs.

Good luck,
-Joe

RD

Mahalao TCentralites!

Back again with another wacky installment of handmade tiki mugs....

Down to THREE this week due to our being plum out of glazed Cocos and Xenos. But they are three GOOD mugs let me tell you.

Primo #33 is looking very lovely with his stunning bright green exterior and bright arsed yellow interior. LOOK!!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4467517085&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1

Fred #10 is an olive green with hints of orange. Another survivor of the kiln disaster, he looks like he was carved from some ancient rock only to be buried by his creator for conjuring too many hangovers.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4467517415&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1

Pina #19. What can I say about Pina? America loves Pina Diablo. Is it the pained expression? Is it the spikes? Or is it the happy "challenge" of consuming 22oz of pina colada? It all adds up to my favorite fruit-based mug ever.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4467517655&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1

Well that's it for now. We'll be back with another three on friday night.

happy bidding,
Joe

RD

Greeetings all!

Another three classic mugs from the Demon family on the block this week. Looky!

The first is of course Primo. Primo #35 is a dusty cocoa color like the stuff you raided from the cupboard that one late night in Jr High when you just needed a chocolate fix but it was all bitter and poisonous even when you added sugar and maybe a little milk, ohhh! It was no Nestle Quik I can tell you... Just me? Oh. Sorry. Well, it's a fine mug. Here's the link:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4470931454&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1

Classic Fred #28 is a light and lovely minty green. He enjoys long walks on the beach and rum-soaked quilting bees. BEHOLD!!:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4470932338&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1

Hola, Pina Diablo! Pina #22 is a little ticked that his beloved Mexico could not score a goal on Angola today. Viva Angola(?)!
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4470933150&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1

So all of these end at the usual time (starting at 6:30pm PST) next friday. Any of this week's winners that are also attending the NW Tiki Kon can forego any shipping/handling as I can simply hand them their treasures in person and insist they christen them with the holy "waters" that shall flow so freely on those holy nights. Amen.

Good luck, and see you at the KON!
-Joe

Hi RD, got one of the Pina Diablo's and it's great! Thanks again for offering up such great mugs

Amy

RD

Whooo! Here's a nice batch of mugs to follow up the NW Tiki Crawl. All three ending tomorrow.

#36 Another one of the newer Primos. I've decided I really like making the inside of the mugs puuuure white. Nifty
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=009&item=190001353606&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1

Fred #29 Brownygreenorange.... what would you call it? I dunno. I like it. The first one of these was snatched up by a roommate. I'll let this one go too...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=009&item=190001355310&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1

Pina #23 Good ol' Pina.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=009&item=190001356724&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1

A buncha mugs heating up in the kiln as I type. Very exciting. Hoping to get a Coco on the list for next week. Regardless, I'll post pics in Creating Tiki next week.

Thanks for loooking,
-Joe

Attention Tiki Headz!

If you haven't seen or gotten a hold of one of da SsweeeetT thangz called 'Rum Demon' yer missi'n out ona some GREAT mugs!!! Thick & Hefty...perfect for a weekend workout at the barefoot bar!

Kool glazes and Krazy faces, besides who doesn't like a possessed and drunken pottery teetering on yer bamboo shelves???

Better hurry...these are going for a steal this week!!! :tiki:

Ppsssst! Hey luv'in my RD's...now where's the 'Big Banana'?

Flip-flOp-fLipPp....

RD

Wow! Thanks for the plug TJ! Very glad you enjoy your mugs. You'll get your banana some day. It's still a work in progress, very difficult to manufacture. I hope to get some out to the public by summer's end.

-Joe

RD

All right! Wow, an ebay announcement on the day the auction STARTS, rather than the last minute. How novel.

Well, it is indeed a special day because Coco is BACK. Yep, just pulled a bunch of warm demons from the kiln, with NO tragedies to report! Of course these are all low fire, but still....

All of these guys end NEXT friday, starting at 6:30pm PST.

First is Primo #38

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=009&item=190001354305&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1
I think that's an all new glaze on the outside. I like it alot. I especially like the way it works against the deep blue interior.

As always, next is Fred

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=009&item=190001356086&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1
Fred #35 also has the deep blue interior, but it's even more stunning when offset by the "benihana" white exterior. I'm going to have to make another one like this to keep for my own fat self.

Hooray for Pina #24

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=009&item=190001357268&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1
#24! I can't believe we're almost halfway through these now. The same goes for Primo and Fred, though you wouldn't know it with the non-sequential way we're selling them.

Welcome back Coco! Coco #11. FLAMING COCO!!!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=009&item=190003816291&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1
No foolin! Back with a bang. Katie and I have been playing around with flames. She wanted a flaming coconut, so there you go. Not to worry, next week Coco will be back to normal.

Welcome back Xeno #8!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=009&item=190003816695&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1#ebayphotohosting
The unsold X8 marks the first relist in Rum Demon history. Tikis in space? Sure, why not? Some day our nuclear powered space age not very tiki tiki mug Xeno shall rule the galaxy! Meanwhile you can pick one up for ten bucks...

That's all for now. Keep your eyes on the Creating Tiki thread for a mega update sometime next week.

Thanks for looking!
-Joe

More and more. So exciting to have the whole family on the block again.

It's a Primo! Primo #39. Holy heck. So there've been a couple of allll red Primos before, sure, but this one is a different glaze. Alll satiny and smoothe. You see, they stopped making the red I had been using before so I had to switch. This is the first new red I tried. Hated it at first, but it's come to grow on me. Looks like lipstick. Like a stick of lipstick. Fabulous!

Fred Fred bo Bed bananafanna.... Fred #37. Back to basic black. A thinner coat of black on this fella. You can actually make out his features, unlike some other blacks we've put out. Kinda stoney in the hand, a bit rough and tumble. Glossy red inside.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=009&item=190006163333&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1

Pina Diablo numero 21. Yeah, we were coming up on #25, but have to jump back to 21 this week. #21 had to get re-fired due to a tiny touch of damage from a minor tussle in the kiln a few months back. Nothin big. Still looks great, I can't even tell what we fixed. Trust me, a o k Pina.

Coco is back to his usual, not on fire self. Our fatty fat fat fat high calorie lovely is ready to harass all the other mugs on your shelf. This one has the "hatchet cut" rim, meaning I did it. Looks like this coconut was maybe cut with a hatchet, or machete, or kitchen knife by someone that doesn't know what they were doing. Anyway, I like the rough-hewn tops alot. Katie hates them. You can visit rumdemon.com to see who's winning THAT battle (yes, the site has been updated! Whee!)
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=009&item=190006165172&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1

Ok, sure he's not REALLY very tiki, more sci-fi. Not even sure where he came from, but there he was one day in my brain and I had to let him out.
Xeno #11 is the first from the new crop of low fire Xeno's. This means there a bit bigger. Haven't measured them yet (yes the ebay description is wrong, oops), but I'm sure it holds at least 20 oz. I'm gonna keep getting wacky with all these mugs, because I need to keep myself entertained. They may not always look like traditional tikis, but they're Rum Demons all the same.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=009&item=190006167013&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1

It's been a crazy summer so far at Chez Demon. Tons of fun was had at the NW Crawl, and I'm happy to say that Katie will let me and a couple raffle sacrifices attend the Seattle Crawl as well! Also look for a RD or two for rafflin' at the upcoming Denver happening, which I will be unable to attend. As I type, no less than four new sculpts are sitting here, staring at me, waiting to be cleaned up and molded. Meanwhile I'm probably going back to LA later this month for more work (and no play) so it should be a challenge to keep the auctions "staffed" with ready mugs. Ok, now I'm rambling...

Thanks to everyone for your support and nice things to say. Good luck, and happy bidding!
-Joe

Wwaaaay cool to see the Xeno out in color RD!!! Great stuff!

Flip-flOp-fLipPp...

R

Wish me luck trying to land a pina out of the Bay.

P

i saw a commercial today for kellog's fruit twistables. the "spokesman" was a coconut. it looked EXACTLY like coco loco. i can't find an image online. maybe someone tivoed it. it was on cartoon network 5:30pm PCT.

RD

Haha! Haven't seen that one yet, but I've heard about it. Yeah, we're familiar with the Twistables spots. Their mouths are pretty similar to ours, which are similar to some of the mugs in Tiki Quest, only with less teeth.

-Joe

RD

Friday again!?

Five more demons on the block. Very special little demons...

Primo #6

So yeah, there was a different Primo #6 for a while, but he needed uh... help... repair... long story short, it couldn't be saved. Soooo the original Primo #6 is in my garden scaring the aphids off my hop vines (I hope) and in his place is this new addition. I said we were going to start mixing things up to keep ourselves entertained. At this moment it means dots. Yes! Behold.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=009&item=190009009760&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1

Fred #38

Bllllack and red. Like last week. Only now.... what's this? YES! Dots around his eye! What does it mean? What COULD it mean? I dunno. Just mixin' it up. Lots of neat stuff in store from Fred, just check the website.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=009&item=190009013324&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1

Pina #25

Finally! Half way! It's been looming for weeks it seems. Here it is, Pina #25!
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=009&item=190009017217&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1

Coco #13

Yes, lucky #13! Marked as such on the bottom by my superstitious love. She squirreled away the Pina #13 for her own self, but a little bird told her to release Coco into the wild. Winner, please be careful with this mug. It's DOOOOOMED!!!! Or not. Anyway, he can be found here:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=009&item=190009019272&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1

Xeno #12

Floating in a pool of dark blue eeeeeeeeeeether, light green Xeno is ready to hover into his new home. Don't fight it.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=009&item=190009022541&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1

Yay! That's it for now. Happy bidding y'all.
-Joe

T

so in the future there will be a record of all the numbered mugs that you have made and then the garden number six is going to come into play and people are really going to be scratching their heads. The dots make them look futuristic machine tiki

RD

Yeah, Fred looks like the cyber tiki. A bit. I would say.

Not to worry about the "retired" doubles in my garden. For one thing, they have heinous glaze mistakes. Unfixable. But the MAIN thing to look for is the bottom of said mugs. You see, to keep them from holding rainwater and becoming mosquito breeding grounds, I've drilled holes in the bottom of them. SOOOOO, in the future, if you ever get a questionable mug, look for these telltale markings and you might get a clue as to their history. Thank you for your concern. But other than that, yeah, I've kept detailed accounts of every mug we've ever made. Feel free to reach me with any questions.

-Joe

T

thats cool. I think if they got holes then thats makes them certainly not mugs and therefore no doubles.

RD

Ok, quick post this week because I'm at WORK, the only place I can get the interwebs right now....

Primo #9

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=009&item=190009010401&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1
Stone face killah. So there are very few RD mugs in high fire. I've recently retired a bunch of these guys due to firing problems. I don't forsee making any more high fire mugs in the near future. Enjoy them while they last

Fred #39

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=009&item=190009014355&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1
This is a special one. I told you we were going nuts with our glazing. Look! A gold tooth!

Pina #26

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=009&item=190009017533&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1
Spiky, yellow, different. Pina!

Coco #15

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=009&item=190009020114&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1
And ANOTHER gold tooth on this troubled nut.

Lucky Xeno #13 "Tron Tiki"

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=009&item=190009023298&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1
Went all out on this one. Tried all sorts of stuff at once. "Oooh, what if I do this? And this? And this?" Some worked, some didn't. One thing for sure, it was all a big pain in the arse, with interesting results...

Ok, that's it. I must stop slacking and get back to my day job. Hope y'all are keeping cool.

Good luck,
Joe

RD

Again I steal a moment from work to give y'all the heads up on this week's muggggs.

Primo #44

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=009&item=190009011042&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1
Similar to the dirty Primo sold a couple of weeks back, this guy has a glossy finish and classy white inside. Hooray.

Fred #40 ON FIRE!!!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=009&item=190009015757&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1
Burning Fred is part of the continuing saga of our mucking about with glazes. I like. Off he goes.

Pina #27

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=009&item=190009018264&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1
Another classic Pin from Katie. What's to say? Do you have YOUR Pina yet?

Coco #16

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=009&item=190009021250&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1
Back to a lighter shade for Coco #16. Again, Katie and I differ on our opinion as to which is better, dark or light. YOU win.

Xeno #14

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=009&item=190009024067&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1
And as always, last is the least tiki of all. I must confess my undying love for Xeno. This week's has the feel of a throwback to 1920's animation. Looks like he might have taken part in Betty Boop's nightmares...

Ok. I have to get back to work before I'm never invited to work here again. Thanks for lookin' and happy bidding!

-Joe

Hey all! Oops, lost a week there. Forgot that I could only list three weeks ahead and was at 30,000 feet when the auctions ended. But we're back with another bunch o handmade tiki barware.

Primo #45. Grey with black inside. Very pretty. Strangely vibrant for grey. Me likes.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=009&item=190019187079&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1

Fred #41. A very exciting time for Fred. Check the website, we've been trying to get more "woody" glazes. Fred here is the first to hit the block.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=009&item=190019188541&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1

Pina #28. Katie says she was trying to get a highlight on the shell eyes but overdid it. So this Pina has mascara I guess.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=009&item=190019189483&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1

Coco #17. Black eyes. I think this is about as conservative as Coco can ever get. Ha! Conservative... Anyway, we're out of Cocos again. Working at getting another batch of mugs poured, fired, glazed, and fired again. More are on the way, but this is the last one for a bit.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=009&item=190019190296&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1

Xeno #15. This is my favorite color configuration for Xeno. It looks to me like something off the wall at a paleontology exhibit. Ancient Xeno dug from the living rock of some faraway desert. Cool.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=009&item=190019191873&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1

Bid bid bid!!

Good luck,
Joe

RD

Oy! Four beauties on the block. Step up and have a look!

Primo #8 would like you to know that he is a rock.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=009&item=190022069284&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1

Fred #18 is a dirty boy.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=009&item=190022074812&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1

Light cannot escape the mouth of Pina #29

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=009&item=190022076102&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1

Noooo Coco this week. We ran out. No Coco next week either. Maybe the week after. But probably not. We're working on the problem RIGHT now.

Xeno #16 looks like a swamp thing. Perhaps a golem. But he's still food safe.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=009&item=190022077890&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1

Very tired. Much "day job" activity this summer. Fear not, the Rum Demons are still on the march. It's just at a slow cadence right now...

-Joe

Is DanLovesTikis going to try to buy ALL the Piña Diablos? Not that he's succeeded in buying them, but he just succeeds in outbidding me.

Just looking for a deal, you never know when one might slip into my hands! Great Mug still a few to go.

RD

Hi everybody! Greetings from demon land! We've been a busy bunch lately, spending our every evening glazing mugs for the next firing.
Still no Coco this week. No Coco for next week, either, NOR Xeno. Sorry. MEANWHILE....

Ending tomorrow...

Primo #41

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=009&item=190024803803&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1
One of the very last high fire Rum Demons ever. I've got a big stack of high fire mugs with friggin PROBLEMS. Soon to be retired. I'll put a big hole through their bottom and set them free in my garden. Fear not, the numbers will be recycled. Oh yes. Unfortunately the beautiful, complex glaze colors only achieved at veeerry high temperatures will have to wait until some future date when we have time to figure out what went wrong and how to get it all done right.....

Fred #42x!!!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=009&item=190024805046&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1
Here's a strange fellow. Woody old mr fred #42x. #42 was written on the bottom of two Fred castings by mistake. One was marked with an X to tell them apart. Regular #42 was snatched up by Pirates or something. I don't know where he is now... Meanwhile, here is 42x. Love him.

Pina #30

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=009&item=190024805515&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1
Here's a good old classic Pina. What more to say, really? A classic. I'm very very sad that we'll only be selling 50.

Xeno #17

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=009&item=190024806191&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1
Oh no! Last Xeno for a while! Dang! Curse the day job! Curse it soooo!!!

Happy bidding,
Joe

RD

Holy DURRRR! I almost forgot to post my weekly heads up!

Ok, short and sweet... only three mugs due to production backup.

PREEEEMO #47 is another sandy sandy one, but this time I gave him a dark and mysterious interior.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=009&item=190026762643&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1

Fred #43 is all sorts of crazy green and what not. Katie had fun doing this one. Didn't turn out quite as sharp as we might have liked. Oh well. Should work out well for someone.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=009&item=190026763635&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1

Pina #32 is full of love for you, you lucky sniper!
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=009&item=190026769555&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1

Ok. Guess I'll be back tomorrow with a full friickn roster! Woo hoo!
