Hello again, my friends. It's time for another lookyloo post from your 3rd or 4th favorite mug producer, Rum Demon!

We snuck a week off there, hope nobody noticed, but we're back on track now and ready to send more mugs afield.

Edgar #20 (of 50)
Our filthiest mug yet of this table licking demon. Beautiful orange inside. Don't let the sub-par photography fool you.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=190139934753&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT&ih=009

Lem n Lime #s 16 (of 100)
The first Rum Demon "pair". Inseperable chums designed with the help of TC's own Travellin Jones.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=190139935647&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT&ih=009

Glass Float #8 (of 100)
Katie's first "faceless" mug. Washing ashore all the colors of the rainbow. This week, we tried for the illusion of "clear", which is actually really difficult....
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=190139939085&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT&ih=009

Ollie the Octopus #15 (of 100)
...was kind enough to pause for some pictures on his way to the lodge meeting.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=190139940469&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT&ih=009

Cannibal Pot #4 (of 100)
We're still hammering which glazes we'll want to use. Jump fast and grab one of the earliest experiments!
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=190139948988&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT&ih=009

Xeno #45 (of 50)
Katie loves to give my designs the Star Trek treatment. She could tell you the name of the episode. I dunno. looks awesome, though.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=190139951341&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT&ih=009

That's it for this week. Now I'm off to give my customers what they really want: feedback.

Thanks for looking,
Joe

So is that it for the coco mug? Damm I never managed to get one!

RD

Tonight, starting at 6pm PST, this week's mugs end. I'm thinking alot of folks are distracted by the Oasis, so... run and see if you can't get a bargain.

Wooo!

Wish I was at the Oasis.....

RD

Oh man. It's really been a while. And unfortunately I'm here to tell of an upcoming hiatus. Work has been crazy and is only getting more so. We're going to Hawaii at the end of the month. I'll be out of town working for a couple of weeks after that, soooo I have to tell you....
These are the LAST MUGS FOR AT LEAST A MONTH. Yep.

But there's a surprise at the bottom of the page to help ease the pain of separation.

Meanwhile, here's the last batch of the summer... ending tomorrow, Friday the 7th...

All right! For those who watch, we're back. We're ramping back up. The mug o lanterns delivered their flickering light to a few lucky households on halloween, which warms my heart, now these four real mugs are almost ready to hold your icy spirits...

Edgar #22 is the blackest black of blackness. Speckled inside. Unwanted last time around, this here is his and your 2nd chance.... UNWANTED!?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=190167059343&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT&ih=009

Lem and Lime #'s 23 are wondering when their inevitable salt shaker incarnations will materialize.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=190167059846&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT&ih=009

Xeno #42 was also unwanted before. Only four more Xenos on our shelves... so if there was ever an inkling in your brain to grab one....

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=190167060927&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT&ih=009

Cannibal Pot #8 is our new favorite instant classic. So much potential for what to drop into the bottom of these babies. Hmmm... babies, perhaps...? GROSS!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=190167061513&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT&ih=009

Ok. Four more after this. We're working frantically to get the puffer fish ready for premiere. The cold weather is great incentive to fire up the old kiln.

Thanks for looking,
Joe

RD

Ending tomorrow (friday) night. Four mugkz for you to think about coveting....

Edgar #24 (o 50)

All right. Now I gotta get back to that big unnatural monstrosity in my oven. Happy bidding everybody!

Thanks for looking,
Joe

Hey everybody! Hope your holidays find you safe and dry amidst your loved ones. Portland survived the "perfect storm" much better than some of the outlying areas, and life is fine so long as you don't need to go to Seattle.

I just wanted to jump in here on this thread to show you our last mugs for 2007. Probably our last "big lot" offering for a while. We're running out of inventory due to our hectic work schedules and other lame excuses, but I'll try and have at least one mug up at any given time in 2008. Thanks for your understanding.

Edgar #28 is about as traditional a glaze as he'll ever get. Kind of camouflaged into the background here..

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=190179188247&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT&ih=009

Poof #2 wants to poison you!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=190179189597&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT&ih=009

Cannibal Pot #13 leaves me to wonder what the natives do with the ribs and other assorted bones NOT found at the bottom...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=190179190161&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT&ih=009

Glass Float #16 will not actually float, so don't go dropping it off the side of your trawler.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=190179190871&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT&ih=009

Ollie the Octopus #19 just got back from a particularly brutal paintball game.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=190179192799&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT&ih=009

That's it for now. Have a spectacular holiday season!

thanks for looking!

-Joe

RD

Hey gang! How's it goin'!?

Remember how I said "at least one mug up at any given time in 2008"? Well, I meant it. Starting now at least. So. It's petty, but we only have ONE mug to offer right this second. But in 2008 we promise to have at least one up on th' bay at all times. From this point on. Serious. No more hiatuses this year, dammit.

Exciting stuff to come for the lucky collectors. Keep your eyes on the creating tiki thread.

Meanwhilez, here is the SOLE reprazentative of the Rum Demon empire right now...

Ollie #22 (of 100) is standing by to accept your bid! "Love me!!!!!"
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=190191822919&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT&ih=009

Well, that's it for now. But hey! I'm unemployed again and spending lots of time in the studio with da clays and da molds and da glazes and da hot hot fire and maybe a shot or two of dark dark rum in my gnarled hands and whoah boy do you got some nice stuff coming to ya!

I've said too much.

Thanks for looking,
Joe

RD

Hey folks,
Katie has put her foot down and so it will be that we're only selling one mug at a time right now. This way we can start building a decent inventory of ready to sell mugs. Sorry about the trickle, but that's the way it's going to be for a while. On the plus side, there will always be SOMETHING on the block from the demon kiln. Also, this should help all of you mug lovers save a bit of money in the short run. There doesn't seem to be any shortage of new mugs on the market, so maybe now you won't have to fret as much about where to spend your tiki dollarz.
It's not that we're out of the game, just scaling back. I had a serious laptop meltdown (right on the tail of a backup drive meltdown) and managed to lose every picture I've taken since april of '06. Needless to say I'm still somewhat dispirited. But as far as making the mugs, we're in full swing. Katie has two new designs that kick serious ass and I've started to poke around with some non-mug tiki ceramics, more on that later.

Anyway, the reason of the post is to show you this week's selection:

Cannibal Pot #14

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190193513434&_trksid=p3907.m32&_trkparms=tab%3DSelling

Auction ends tomorrow night. Good luck and thanks for looking!

-Joe

PS. I promise I'll try and slip in a 2nd mug here and there while Katie isn't looking.

RD

Diggit. This week's mug for your collecting pleasure is glass float #17.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=190195308409&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT&ih=009

So I tried something completely different in the glazing of this one. Kind of a cross between making the mug look antique and totally weathered. I had three to glaze and Katie only let me try my new method on one of them. So here is the result. It looks all old and dirty with bits of green goo which the ocean has to offer stuck in the ropes and MAN was I happy to see this guy when he came out of the kiln. So if you like it, grab it. The next two are done up like their predecessors, cleaner ropes, etc, so if you liked them the way they were, don't fret. We'll probably mix it up for the rest of the run, but personally I much prefer the weathered fellows like this one.

Good luck, thanks for looking, and happy bidding!

-Joe

RD

So we got a Lem and Lime up there now. So dig em.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=190197221947&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT&ih=009

Meanwhiles as many of you might be aware, evilBay has made some "exciting changes" to their pricing structure! Namely, listing prices have dropped a nickel or two while final value fees are being raised several percentage points. It's bad enough that they ebay is one in the same with paypal, who also takes a cut of each transaction, but they feel the need to gouge us even further.

So Rum Demon is going to join the boycott of 2/18 - 2/25. Not sure what it will all amount to, but I'm really hoping they get at least a little burned.

spitefully,
Joe

PS Of course we'll be back right after that with SKULL #1!!!!

Yeah, we showed them. With that huge boycott. Take THAT eBay!!

Anyway, Katie has softened somewhat. The new deal is THREE mugs a week. Can we manage to keep up? I hope so.

So here's a fun sneak peek of our newest creation. Pretty straight forward, really. It's a human skull. A mean human skull, so you don't feel so bad about drinking out of his noggin. Or... eating...

Nice. We're constantly finding new uses for these skulls. And with a run of 100, I'm sure the public at large will explore every one of them and more.

#1 will be up on evilBay tomorrow night, along with a puffer and a very pretty Edgar. Of course, I will post again.

Hang in there. Fight the power.

-Joe

RD

Greetings Tiki Central. I have three mugs available right now. And hopefully three every week for a long long time (yes, Katie gave in).

Taking a turn further towards the macabre we officially introduce.... Skully (I guess) the Human Skull bowl.

Fairly straightforward, really. You drink your booze outta this here skull.

Or you use it fer soup.

Or to ash our cigarettes.

Or feed your pets!

I can has braaaaainz??!?

So you can find skull #1 (of 100) Here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=190202673128&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT&ih=009
and NO, it's not the one we put the Trix and Fancy Feast in for the pictures.

Also for this week is Edgar #29 (of 50) http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=190202676628&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT&ih=009

The orange in the picture doesn't do justice to the real deal. Works nicely against the white. He still licks your table, though. Filthy bugger.

Oh, and Poof the Puffer Fish #3 (of 100) http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=190202678937&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT&ih=009

Only #3?!! I could have sworn we let more of these out! I'm so very sorry about that. Please accept this ceramic fish as a peace offering.

HEY! Thanks for looking.

-Joe

I just stumbled two really sweet mugs on evil bay...you're treasure map mug and brown float mug...damn, they area REALLYYY nice! Too bad I can't afford them :( Bidding is already pretty high with 6 days still left...arghhh!

It's really nice to see that your mugs have been going up in demand :)

M

What happened to Rum Demon?!?!?!?!?!

I need some mugs! Haven't seen any for the past few months!

RD

Hey Mo,
Sorry to drop off the map like that without even giving a shout to the ohana. I've been lurking around the forums now and again, but haven't really posted much of anything.

As far as Rum Demon is concerned, Katie and I are still making mugs in our spare time and have even started down some other tiki ceramic paths. We slowed then stopped our eBay sales around the holiday for a number of reasons. We'll probably throw a few last things up there in April.

Our long term plan is to finally build an online store. We're not sure exactly how we're going to go about this, but have some good leads. We'll most likely make a space on etsy.com. Look for our announcement in the late spring.

I hope you and all the other tikiphiles are doing well and finding happiness despite any hardships. I'll try and keep in touch.

mahalo,
Joe
