Pages: 1 40 replies

I know its not even a full month since the Sept Chop but it happened to be the only weekend in October that I didnt have an obligation.

Please join me with the artwork of your choice at the Monkeyman Homestead.

I have a generous area for you to carve in and plenty of shade for those that want to paint or sculpt etc.

My newly purchased house is in the midst of a remodel so please bare with my mess.

All are welcome.... if you are interested in attending please PM me for my address and contact info.

I am located in VISTA, CA about 40 minutes North of San Diego and 45-60 minutes South of Orange County.

Thanks,

Derek

I will get some pizza and beer and all others can bring whatever they wish.

Because its on a Saturday you are all welcome to stay as long as you like.

PM me if you need my address.

Ahhh!

Derek, I'd love to/want to come down this Saturday and hang out and participate, but I have to attend the Tikiyaki Orchestra Lodge Meeting in North Hollywood instead.

I have a sales table to set up at 4:00pm. Maybe next time?

Damn!

I'll take the work back for you Kinny...I need to pass that other colab piece off to you too, so this Chop would be perfect for da hook up...

See you there!

MM, let me know if you need anything...

M

Well... as far as needing things... I dont attend as regularly as some of you.

Is it more potluck or does the the host house take care of everything?

Hello Monkeyman.
I noticed a few threads about these chop get together. I'm new to all this but just started my first carve about 10 days ago. I'd love to attend if I'd be welcome. Any additional info would be great. I.E. What to bring, location etc.

B

I'm bringing DONUTS!! heh, heh...oh, and coffee for Bill too.

Normally for Chops, we all bring a little somethin, somethin to curb the munchies.

Who else is in? I can't eat all the donuts I'm bringing myself...well, I could, but I don't want to.

I think I dragging Bowanna up with me if'n I can tear him away from one of his zillion projects he has up on his table right now.

DONUTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'M SO THERE!!!
can we just come down for donuts?

I may have Toe in tow...

4

Donuts, coffee, pizza, beer. It's shaping up to be the best chop ever!

all we need are hookers!
:)

MM

AWWWW! We have a babysitting job. So no Musubi or smoked marlin dip for this chop. At least Bill has his favorite foods. See you all next time.

M

My daughter specifically asked if you were coming Misubi Mom....

She really enjoyed the Spamisubi you brought the last time she came with me...

Next Time

Looks like you get a reprieve from Candied Bacon Ice Cream, I've got too much stuff goin' on and won't be able to make the drive. That's too bad, I wanted to meet the "Monkeyman: Clowns!" guy :D

What time do these usually start?

I've always wanted to attend one, and this one is nice and close to my house. Not sure what I'll do though, maybe bring a pad of paper and draw?

T

I might be a bit late, but I'll be there.

I'll bring the chocolate chocolate chocolate cookies and some other munchies and something to carve. :D

Can't wait to see your new place, Derek.

I wanna go! I am new to carving and can surely use the tips! I'll bring....more beer!

Regarding our start time.... Its flexible

I would say show up any time you like after 9am and stay as long as you like

If anyone has an extra easy up or awning you would like to bring for additional shade please do

I will supply Pizza and Beer (I dont do light beer so bring some if thats what you like) for lunch and all other goodies are at the discretion of the guests

For the newbies... this is called a chop but its really morphed into a Creative Art Day....

Painters, Illustrators, Sculptors, Carvers and etc.... all hanging together.

Plenty of Room for all to spread out... looks like we could have a group between 10 - 15 people

:)

It was another excellent Chop. A big thanks to the Monkeyman clan for hosting. I really enjoyed the trampoline. :)

Roxanne had a Halloweeny project going on. She spent the day making tombstones.

BigToe working on his Fool painting.

Kinny and Mr. NoNaMe

Babalu working on another awesome PNG mug.

Last month's mug all glazed and fabulous.

Bowana also doing the PNG thing. (Three colors, Dave. Just three.)

Mike did some sketching.

Tiki Shaker working in charcoal.

Mieko doing a small piece.

This was a very productive Chop. Everyone got so much done...oh wait.

Just kidding, Bill. 4WD pulled out his chain saw and had his tiki pretty much finished by the end of the day.

Zaya returning from dropping off Jaden.

Who the hell is this guy?

Really? Clysdalle? At a Chop? Painting a tiki?

Me and my best friend, Buzzy.

I ended the day with an original Clysdalle painting (which was really sweet after all the shit I gave him), a vintage mug from Buzzy, and I actually finished carving a tiki. It's been a while. Once he's stained, I'll post a picture in my carving thread.

Thanks for having us over Derek. It was great hanging out with everybody. I'm definitely going to try and make it to more of these.

Derek the house is amazing. I'm hoping to have the opportunity to see the progress you continue make in the future.

Thanks again.

Got there after everyone but Roxanne and Mike had left. Had a great time shooting the breeze with the Monkeyman Fam'. My kids loved the trampoline and playing "chase" in the dark. Thanks for everything. I hope to have a non-conflicting schedule for the next chop. Transported that damn log around for a week for nothing.

Sorry we missed you Matt! Huge Thank You to Monkey Man and his family for hosting this months Chop...What a SPREAD! Wow-wie! I can't wait to see what you do with this wonderful home Derek.

Damn...I didn't take enough pictures. It was great seeing all of you new folks there, what a talented bunch of folks kicking around together this weekend. Mike, your drawings are OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! Roxanne, make him post :)

The Monkey Crew -

4 Wheeler having an out of body experience -

Kate is Shagadellic - Great carve KATE!

Bowana just thought a great deal of the day away poolside - no one was quite sure about what, but hey, he was going all "DAVE" on something in his brain there...of that, we were sure.

LONG LIVE THE CHOPS!!!!!

Great, the only pics of me, I'm just sitting there!
I did do nothing most of the time, but I powered out a tiki towards the end of the day:

This is after doing a bit more to it today.

What a great chop! Talent galore! Delicious pizza!
Props to the newbs who showed up, Don and John. John, post up that bad boy!
Derek and Olga, Thank You for opening up your new house to us! It's an excellent place to have a chop.

Thank you to all who came and enjoyed themselves.

It was a real treat to finally HOST a chop instead of just show up at one.

You all are welcome back any time. If you are looking for a spot for a chop.... please let me know. The invite always stands.

All the kids thought it was SO COOL to have all that talent in the backyard.

Please come back again !!!!!!!!!

Derek, sorry I missed it. The compound is going to be sick when you are done with it.
